For those who wish to work with preserving and making cultural heritage accessible, there is now an excellent opportunity. Within the county museum's commissioned activities in conservation, we are looking for a knowledgeable, engaged, and results- and development-oriented conservator, with experience and the ability to take on larger assignments as a project manager. We primarily work with painting on wood, canvas, and plaster.
As a conservator, you will work within the Cultural Environment unit, together with other conservators, archaeologists, architectural historians, and cultural geographers. All with extensive knowledge and broad competence. Every year, we handle hundreds of assignments for the Church of Sweden, municipalities, authorities, companies, and private individuals.
Wouldn't you like to be part of this?
Main Responsibilities
- Process cases, plan and lead projects, both independently and in teams.
- Conduct condition surveys, prepare action programs, and calculate resources for various types of conservation interventions.
- Perform preventive and active conservation.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in conservation or equivalent, preferably with a master's degree.
- Several years of experience in painting conservation in historical and sacred environments.
- Experience in project management with responsibility for budget and staff supervision, preferably in a consultancy role.
Additionally, you need:
- Good documented ability to compile reports, action programs, and cost estimates.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365.
- Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
- A valid driver's license (Category B).
Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and English is considered an asset.
We place great emphasis on your ability to:
- Handle logistics, plan, and execute projects with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders, and subcontractors.
- Work both independently and in teams, and communicate both internally and externally.
- Adapt the quality of tasks and results based on the client's specification.
- Deliver and meet deadlines.
- Be meticulous and receptive.
- Analyze and have a desire to learn new things.
Employment
The position is a permanent full-time role starting with a 6-month probationary period. Travel is common, and overnight stays may be included. Start date by agreement.
The work is occasionally physically demanding, and work at heights, both from scaffolding and lifts, occurs, as well as work in environments with dust and mold.
The Workplace
The County Museum offers you inspiring tasks in a dynamic environment, good professional development, active work environment efforts, wonderful colleagues, and good working conditions.
We hope you will enjoy and grow with us!
Application
The last day for applications is September 30. However, we conduct selections and interviews on an ongoing basis, so the position may be filled before the application period ends.
In your application, you attach a cover letter and CV, along with salary expectations, relevant certificates and grades, and an example of a report from a project you have written or been responsible for.
We look forward to receiving your application!
